Why Cincy Cinco?
Why did we decide to produce this family-oriented festival in 2004?
Census Bureau data shows that the Hispanic population is now 62 + Million and by far the largest minority nationally. We realize that Hispanics in our metro area are approximately only 4.2% of the # of total residents; however, the group is growing the fastest.
Based on the 2020 U.S. Census data, the Hispanic population in the 16-county Tristate region was 95,073 residents, which is triple the # of residents we had when we started the festival. In the last ten years, 75% of the total growth of the Cincy-metro area was Latino/Hispanic growth.
With that growth comes needs, some of which are unique, like language, and which the community at large has not had to deal with before. At the same time, this is an opportunity for many in the community at large to learn about a new culture and people and what they can contribute to the community as they have in many other parts of the country.
Net, in this environment, serves both the entire community as well as the local Latino community to proactively work to find ways to successfully bring this group into our community. This project is one such step in that process.
Our Mission
Our mission is to educate Latinos about the regional community and the resources available to them, as well as to educate the community at large about Latino cultures, values, and traditions.
Guiding principles:
This event will be fun for the whole family.
It will promote the interaction of the Latino community with the community-at-large
It will showcase aspects of Latino culture, values, and traditions
All net proceeds will benefit tri-state charities that support the Hispanic population.
